Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially crossed $2 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing Spider-Man film and one of the biggest movies of all time. Guy T. Wehman, Allison Rose, and Stephen Leibowitz discuss how far the blockbuster can climb, whether $3 billion is possible, and why its July 31 release date may have given Marvel the perfect runway through the rest of summer.
The team also looks at Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which continues holding strong at the box office and dominating IMAX screens. They discuss release-date strategy, the lack of major competition heading into fall, PAW Patrol's family audience, and why films such as The End of Oak Street and One Night Only have struggled to compete with the summer's biggest theatrical events.
Allison reviews The Rivals of Amziah King, Andrew Patterson's sophomore feature starring Matthew McConaughey. She praises Patterson as a filmmaker to watch, highlighting a story that shifts from joyful, bluegrass-infused drama into something much more serious during its second half.
Stephen takes on It Ends, a low-budget thriller about four friends trapped on a seemingly endless road. The single-location concept keeps the production contained, but Stephen finds the philosophical conversations and repetitive setup unable to sustain the film's 90-minute runtime.
Allison then discusses Tony, the Anthony Bourdain biographical drama starring Dominic Sessa and Antonio Banderas. The film focuses on one pivotal summer in Bourdain's life and offers plenty for food lovers, though Allison wonders how much of its appeal depends on audiences already being interested in the famous chef.
Next up is Insidious: Out of the Further, the sixth entry in the horror franchise. Allison finds it suspenseful, creepy, and packed with effective jump scares while introducing a new wrinkle to The Further. It may not be the franchise's best installment, but its low-budget, high-return formula shows why the series keeps coming back.
Finally, Allison gets her Jason Statham moment with Mutiny, which she describes as essentially Die Hard on a ship.
The episode wraps with Classic Picks of the Week. Stephen chooses Pixar's 1998 animated favorite A Bug's Life, Allison goes with Richard Gere in 1980's American Gigolo, and Guy heads back to 1953 for Vincent Price in House of Wax.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its extraordinary box office run, reaching $1.7 billion worldwide and more than $700 million domestically. Guy T. Wehman, Allison Rose, and Stephen Leibowitz discuss the blockbuster's incredible second weekend, the power of repeat viewings and word of mouth, and whether Spider-Man could ultimately cross the $2 billion mark.
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey remains a major theatrical draw, with IMAX screenings still selling out, while Toy Story 5, Minions and Monsters, and Disney's live-action Moana continue competing for family audiences.
The conversation turns to Hollywood's growing production budgets, franchise fatigue, original storytelling, and why simply spending $250 million doesn't guarantee audiences will show up. The team also looks at the disappointing performances of Ice Cream Man, One Night Only, and Super Troopers 3, and whether studios need to rethink how they develop and release movies.
Stephen and Allison then review The End of Oak Street, David Robert Mitchell's PG-13 dinosaur thriller starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor. When a 1980s neighborhood is suddenly transported back to the Jurassic era, the result is a big-screen summer adventure packed with dinosaurs, tension, humor, and the kind of crowd reactions that make seeing a movie in a theater worthwhile.
Allison also previews PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, which arrives as families look for something new after weeks of Toy Story 5, Minions and Monsters, and Moana.
The episode wraps with Classic Picks of the Week. Stephen revisits Wes Craven's 1984 horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street, Allison chooses 1989's Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure ahead of her Popcorn Frights interview with William Sadler, and Guy heads back to 1969 for Easy Rider.

PODCAST EPISODE TITLE Spider-Man: Brand New Day Breaks Records, Ice Cream Man Flops & New Reviews APPLE PODCASTS SUMMARY Spider-Man: Brand New Day makes box office history as Allison Rose and Stephen Leibowitz review Ice Cream Man, One Night Only, and Olmo, plus their Classic Picks of the Week. FULL PODBEAN HTML DESCRIPTION
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has delivered a record-breaking opening weekend, and Guy T. Wehman, Allison Rose, and Stephen Leibowitz lead this week's FlickRadio with a look at the blockbuster's extraordinary box office performance. They discuss its rapid climb toward the billion-dollar mark, whether it could ultimately reach $2 billion, and what its success could mean for Avengers: Doomsday.
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey remains strong in second place, while Toy Story 5, Minions and Monsters, and the live-action Moana continue drawing family audiences. The team also looks at the disappointing theatrical performance of Motor City and discusses why some films connect with audiences while others struggle to justify their budgets.
Then Stephen digs into Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man, an unrated horror movie in which children who eat the title character's frozen treats become violent killers. There is plenty of gore, but Stephen finds the dialogue, acting, and filmmaking far less appetizing and explains why he understands reports of audiences walking out.
Allison has a much better time with One Night Only, describing its unusual setup as what might happen if a romantic comedy and The Purge had a baby. The romance follows a familiar formula, but strong chemistry and genuine laugh-out-loud comedy make it an entertaining alternative for moviegoers looking for something lighter.
Stephen also reviews the Brad Pitt-produced independent drama Olmo, centered on a 14-year-old growing up in New Mexico during the late 1970s while helping care for his father, who has multiple sclerosis. While Stephen praises the young lead's performance and some of the film's creative choices, the drama never completely connects with him.
The episode wraps with Classic Picks of the Week. Allison chooses Molly Ringwald's 1986 favorite Pretty in Pink, Stephen revisits the 1984 comedy Police Academy, and Guy travels back to 1946 for Robert Montgomery's film noir Lady in the Lake.
